Nick Bosa, the 2019 Defensive Rookie of the Year, has agreed to a historic five-year, $170 million contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers, making him the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.

The deal includes $122.5 million guaranteed, which is also the most for any defensive player.

Bosa's average annual salary of $34 million is also the highest for any defensive player.

Bosa, 24, is coming off a season in which he led the NFL with 15.5 sacks.

He was also named to the Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro.

The 49ers drafted Bosa second overall in the 2019 NFL Draft.

He has quickly developed into one of the best defensive players in the league.

The contract extension is a major win for Bosa and the 49ers. Bosa is now locked up for the foreseeable future, and the 49ers have one of the best defensive players in the NFL under contract.
